MUSIMA
MUSIMA starts from something simple: a lot of people, projects and initiatives are building valuable things without necessarily being connected to one another.
Our identity is anchored in the African diaspora and in everything it creates, starts, innovates and brings. But what we do is open to anyone — and any organisation — who wants to discover, contribute, collaborate or build.
The starting point

All of it exists. And all of it can stay apart: someone can have an idea without knowing the person who could help; a project can need a skill that sits a few kilometres away; an institution can hold resources without ever reaching the people who could use them.
MUSIMA works in that space — between what exists and what could meet.

Gatherings
Gatherings are one of the ways we work. We build them around people, experiences, questions and projects that can open up new perspectives and new connections.

MUSIMA's first gathering. People building something in Barcelona talk about how they go about it — what works, what it costs, what they learnt along the way — and the room asks its questions. An afternoon to listen, meet people and see what can start.

Projects and initiatives
MUSIMA is also built through projects, initiatives and collaborations. Some are under way, some come out of a connection, some are still to be developed.
The association's first project is the association itself. Setting it up, finding it a room, getting the first people around a table. And doing it in the open rather than behind the scenes.
Ideas and experience
Conversations pass, but ideas, experience and lessons can keep travelling. MUSIMA documents and shares part of what comes up, so it can reach further.
For years we watched people around us build solid things that never travelled beyond their own circle. MUSIMA came out of that gap — and out of the moment we stopped waiting for someone else to deal with it.
The MUSIMA ecosystem
MUSIMA wants to build, step by step, an ecosystem of people, companies, associations, institutions, universities and projects able to meet, share resources and knowledge, work together and give more strength to what gets built.
You don’t need to belong to a particular community to be part of it. You can bring an idea, an experience, a skill, a contact, a resource, a project — or simply your interest.
